If you are going this route, you will have a variety of options to choose from. One thing you will want to consider is how much memory space you will be requiring out of your DVR. If you are planning to record a show and watch it once before deleting it, springing for a DVR with the maximum amount of memory space will not be necessary.
Even if you choose a device with more limited memory space, you can preserve the space on it by supplementing your DVR with a DVD recorder. With a DVD recorder, even if you want to save a show after watching it, you can free up space on your DVR's hard drive by making a DVD.
