American popular culture has become a worldwide phenomenon, and has now reached even the farthest, most unknown corners of the globe. It has spread to basically most countries in the world as has even become a standard norm in many places. It plays a role in the lives of the younger generations all over in how they view the world, and it influences them in how they think and act.
And socially it propagates the "American Way", and provides the youth with a framework of what kids their age should be like. It shows them what kinds of things they should be doing for fun, how they should act around their friends, and how they should live their lives in general. Through these cultural norms, many children are formed as social beings and use this as a base to build on as they grow physically and mature mentally.
In this sense, American popular culture plays a huge role in how obviously all kids in the United States grow up, but now that American popular culture reaches so far, it is now creating a global framework for younger generations. This has had many different effects on how these younger generations see the world and has influenced these kids to see the world through a more globalized lens.
The main ways that American popular culture has spread throughout the entire world is by television, whether by television sitcoms, cartoons such as the Simpsons, and movies. They all have played an active role in spreading the popular culture from the United States. Many different sitcoms from the United States make it to places that are unthinkable, and as the youth everywhere watch more and more of them, they begin to identify themselves with characters from each and every American sitcom that watch.
On another level, many people of all ages watch programs like the Simpsons, and they get a taste of how American culture is in general. Although this can be deceiving when referring to some aspects of American daily life due to the fact that it is a cartoon and a comedy, and is not always true in how it portrays the American people. These comedic and distorted portrayals sometimes give people from another country a skewed view of how Americans are and how life is in America, which can propagate negative stereotypes about Americans.
Movies are also one of the principal ways that American popular culture has reached most of the world. The movies that flow out of Hollywood for the most part have reached billions of people and numerous characters from American movies have become famous in numerous countries. A lot of people outside of the Unites States use satellite TV to watch all of these shows and movies because satellite TV reaches many places that are hard to get to. A family in the mountains of South America can put a satellite dish on their roof and get access to satellite TV although they live in a small village that barely has electricity and running water. Satellite TV provides access to American movies and television programs to millions of people in the world.
